Base Maintenance Facility

Client | IKOY Architects
Location | Canadian Forces Base, Shilo, Manitoba
Year Completed | 1996

The unique cable stayed exoskeleton structure provides 150 ft clear spans for maintenance of massive tracked army vehicles. The exterior structure reduces both operating and capitol costs by removing approximately 3' of building depth and associated cladding typically required for internal structures.

This project is consistent with IKOY’s colourful approach to building systems and it’s high tech approach to aesthetics, consistent with British influences such as Norman Foster and Richard Rogers.
