World renowned artist Rebecca Belmore hired DIN Projects and Wolfrom to integrate the sculpture structure into the art piece. A series of beautifully welded rebar frames provide the necessary lightweight support and profile shaping for thousands of individual clay fired beads. Citizens were invited to squeeze the local clay soil, and through this small act came the imprint of their clenched fists and thus inherently unique beads.
It’s a true honour to work with artists in achieving their ideas, making our public communal spaces richer for all. It also let’s us explore materials in often new ways, and we can feed that back into our design process for future projects.
